Tornadoes

Living in Kansas, Dorothy and her family are unfortunately accustomed to tornadoes. We found out why this was, by researching tornado alley!

After watching the clip from the film, as well as other tornado footage, the children were able to see this extreme weather force in action and the devastation it can bring. 

We discussed what tornadoes are and how they are formed, as well as creating tornadoes in a jar... where shaking the jar in a circular fashion creates a vortex. You can do this easily at home with water and washing up liquid.
